Was Joe trained to be a serial killer by Mr Mooney? But the show at least suggests there’s a lot more story to be told about Joe and Mr Mooney’s complex relationship, something we’ll no doubt see unfold in season two. Taking this idea further, a Redditor added that perhaps Mooney saved Candace (Ambyr Childers) and that’s why Joe hurt him – out of anger for defending the ex over him.
One theory goes that Joe feared Mooney would go to the police and, as such, chose to hurt him in this way so he’d be unable to tell the police. Yeah, Joe may’ve said the guy suffered a stroke and was saved by him a couple of days later, but we all know that the guy is a pretty determined liar. Season one was crafted in a way that left a lot more to be discovered about Mr Mooney (Mark Blum), the bookstore owner and alleged captor of teenage Joe – particularly when it comes to his physical health. Not only do we need to find out just WTF is going on after that ending, but there are a whole load of loose ends we’re hoping are tied up in the second season. If you loved it as much as we did, you’ll be pleased to know the show will be returning for a second outing – which is a good thing, considering the finale left us hanging off the edge of a cliff like a bunch of binge-watching maniacs. Although since the show was told from the perspective of our antagonist Joe, You is less of a whodunnit and more of a whatdidhedonow.
